Wavves | Sail To The Sun

Wavves | Sail To The Sun

Wavves released a single off their upcoming LP. They still sound like Wavves, which is a good thing. And when I say that I mean the “newer” Wavves. Their new album should be out sometime this year.

Ton-Taun | Get Well

Ton-Taun | Get Well

I am a bit late on this album, but that’s because I first head about it when I already had my best of 2012 list. If only I heard it sooner! They have a psychedelic-dream-pop (a genre I just made up) sound. Ton-Taun is a band from Philadelphia, PA. They share a member from another Philly band that made it onto my best of 2012 list Is And Of The. I am pretty sure this is a concept album, maybe a very loose one. I only think this because they way the songs are named and the order of them. Sobriety Check, Bottoms Up!, New Years, then the last couple songs are named Aftershock, and Get Well. My favorite track, New Years, is a 10 minute long song that just keeps on building and building. It gets to a point where there are trumpet solos, screechy feedback solos, and a mix of both. It’s really easy to get lost while listening to this, which is a good thing. This is probably best listened to with headphones on. That way you can hear all the detail that they put into each song. They all have little sounds that make up the song. If they weren’t there, the songs definitely would sound like they’re missing something. Overall, this is a great album and is definitely worth the $4 they’re selling it for. Plus, it comes with a super cool PDF file with illustrations and lyrics for each song. I always love it when bands put something extra with their digital downloads like that.

Free Music of the Week 1: January 5th, 2013

Happy New Year everyone. This is a new segment I’m going to be doing every Friday. Free Music of the Week. It doesn’t have to be new or by well-known artists. This week, the very first free music of the week is Business Cats from Azusa, California. This was suggested to me by an anon on here. They’re demo is the only thing on their bandcamp, but it’s really fucking good. It’s lo-fi pop. When I say lo-fi, I really mean lo-fi. It basically clips the entire time and some of the tracks only come out of the left speaker. But don’t let this keep you away from it. It’s fucking good. Super short, sweet, catchy songs. I hope one day they’ll make their way over to Philadelphia so I can get to see them live. They sound like they’d put on an awesome show. So, Business Cats, if you can hear me, PLEASE COME TO PHILADELPHIA. If you need help finding a venue to play, I may be able to help! PLEASE OH PLEASE.

A$AP Rocky | 1 Train (feat. Kendrick Lamar, Joey Bada$$, Yelawolf, Danny Brown, Action Bronson, Big K.R.I.T.)

This is the second track to be released from the upcoming LongLiveASAP. Although, I am pretty sure this one was leaked and not released officially. It was on 2dopeboyz, but they have taken it down. Luckily, I have found another blog that had the song available for download. The first track to come off this album, Fuckin’ Problems, I did not like that much. One of the main reasons I didn’t like it was because he had way too many features. And one of those features was Drake, and I HATE Drake. This was also one of the main problems I had with his first mixtape. Almost all of his features I did not like. But this track. THIS TRACK. Is an exception. It has Kendrick Lamar and Danny Brown. Two of my most favorite rappers right now. I have never really listened to Joey Bada$$, Yelawolf, Action Bronson, or Big K.R.I.T.. I’ve heard of them, but just never to listened to them. But after hearing this, I will be most definitely checking all of them out. This is produced by Hit-Boy. He also produced one of my favorite ASAP tracks Goldie. There isn’t a chorus or anything; it’s just an orchestral loop as the beat and each rapper taking their one turn putting in their verse. This is getting me hyped for the release of LongLiveASAP which is out January 15th, 2013.

This track is very very good.
