Air: Le Voyage Dans La Lune

This album was announced at the exact right time for me. I was in Cinema History class and we had just gotten done learning/watching Le Voyage Dans La Lune and a couple days later I found out that Air was making an album that was supposed to be a soundtrack to that silent film. I loved the movie so I had to hear the new soundtrack for it. When it was released I fell in love with it. Over time, I have gotten a little jaded from it, but that’s just my own fault from listening to it so many times.

Tame Impala: Lonerism

When I start listening to this album, it’s really hard to not close my eyes and get lost in all the colorful sounds I’m hearing. It’s pure psychedelic rock. It will be one of the most interesting albums you listen to this year and probably for years to come. You can only listen to this album when you’re really paying attention with headphones on so you can hear all the little extra sounds to fully enjoy it. Please, enlighten yourself, if you haven’t already.

Grimes: Visions

Grimes is a super cute girl that does weird, trance, electronic music. She’s makes some of the best/coolest/catchiest/weirdest music I’ve ever heard. This album is great. Think of all the weird posts you see on tumblr in audio form. That may or may not be a good thing. I like it, though. Listen

Between The Buried And Me: The Parallax 2: Future Sequence

These guys are for some reason the only metal band I can listen to and enjoy. And this album did not disappoint. The opening track is SO FUCKING GOOD. I like how on most BTBAM albums, for a first time listener, they basically trick the person into thinking that they’re not about to hear a metal band. It’s a really nice intro with awesome melodies. Every song is SO FUCKING GOOD, actually. Just listen and experience this for yourself.

THEESatisfaction: awE naturalE

The opening two tracks awE and Bitch are the shortest, but it is packed with the badassness that you have to prepare yourself to hear for the rest of the album. Two powerful women that don’t fuck around. That don’t FUCK AROUND. I mean, sure, they fuck around, but they don’t fuck around. And Shabazz Palaces make a few appearances on the album, which is fucking awesome. Listen to this R&B/Rap goodness.

The Brian Jonestown Massacre: Aufheben

I have been a BJM fan for a couple years now. And I might only like this album because I love them so much, but I don’t care. I think this record is great. It’s more shoegaze than their other millions of albums. Even though they’re all getting older, and may have already passed their peak, they still make some of the most amazing psychedelic music I’ve ever heard. If you close your eyes and listen to this, you can see and feel your mind expanding into the size of a million galaxies pulsing to the beat of the music.

Spacin’: Deep Thuds

Spacin’ is a psychedelic Philadelphia band. They’re like the cool music all the cool badasses listen to while they’re driving in the cool movies. Spacey (sorry), psychedelic, jam tunes that are really fucking awesome. My favorite songs are Some Future Burger and Chest of Steel. I cannot seem to find a streaming link for this album, but if you can somehow get your hands on it, do it. Here is one song, though.
